On course from the start

Born in Hamburg in 1959, Jürgen Weitz went to Tellkamp School until passing his ’A’ levels in his home town. After completing his mandatory military service he returned to take his degree in business studies. He always knew that he wanted to work in the same business as his father and so it was only natural that, after graduating in 1985, he completed an internship with Villeroy&Boch in New York.

After the training period he returned to Germany where he managed two Villeroy&Boch shops in Hamburg. In 1996 he took over his father’s business; and in 1998 he bought Dirk Töpperwien’s Hamburg business. In 2004 this was followed by the opening of the Bielefeld branch. Today Jürgen Weitz is married and the father of 4 children as well as being the owner of W.Weitz GmbH & Co KG comprising three businesses. Hopefully the next generation will have the same interest in high quality tableware and derive just as much pleasure from it.
